Now and again a band will do it, perhaps for an anniversary, a festival or a special one off show, but there’s always those seminal and classic albums you really wish you could see play live and in full. Here is a quick list:
THE USED – IN LOVE AND DEATH
Next year it’ll be The Used‘s twenty year anniversary and there’s been some talk in recent interviews of them doing “something special”. If they’re following in the footsteps of fellow early 2000s emo legends Taking Back Sunday, we may well see a tour where they play one or two of their early classic albums in full, and while there’s many to choose from, ‘In Love And Death’ is most definitely a solid choice with some real bangers.
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE – THREE CHEERS FOR SWEET REVENGE
Of course, they’ve got to actually get back together first but emos of all ages would be clamouring all over each other to snatch up tickets to this performance if it were ever to take place. A key album from the highly influential group, this would undoubtedly be incredible to hear live and in full.
Check out our Under The Influence piece on the album here.
TURNSTILE – TIME & SPACE
One of the newest albums of the collection but undoubtedly a modern classic that’s sure to grace lists for years to come. ‘Time & Space’ is a bouncy, infectious and rule-breaking ball of immensity that helped reinvent hardcore and catapult Turnstile to international fame. It has a little something for everyone and a full live performance of every single track in order would absolutely pop off in the pit.
TWENTY ONE PILOTS – SELF-TITLED
The duo have been together in some form or another for ten years now so if ever there was a time for them to play their first album (released 2009) in full, it would be now, and it’s certainly something fans are eager for especially since most of their early songs have sadly now been dropped from the set in favour of newer material. Their debut self-titled record contains the intricate, introspective songwriting they’ve become known for by the bucketload.
GLASSJAW – WORSHIP AND TRIBUTE
Arguably one of the greatest post-hardcore albums of all time, setting the bar high and the standard for everyone else in the game, ‘Worship And Tribute’ still holds up today, still sounding as fresh and exciting as it always did, leaving Glassjaw to remain frontrunners in the game nearly two decades later. Thankfully those fans eager to hear this fantastic album live will now get their chance as the band will be performing it in full at this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago.
TAKING BACK SUNDAY – LOUDER NOW
As mentioned above, Taking Back Sunday recently celebrated their twenty year anniversary with a worldwide tour playing debut album ‘Tell All Your Friends’ in full. If playing a city for two nights in a row, they would flip a coin and then also play either ‘Where You Want To Be’ or ‘Louder Now’. This means that some lucky fans DID get to hear ‘Louder Now’ in full but there’s plenty out there who missed their chance to hear this classic album played live. But, like Glassjaw, they too will be hitting the stages at this year’s Riot Fest and performing the album so now’s your chance.
In fact, let’s check out the full list of classic albums being performed in full at Riot Fest 2019, because it’s pretty impressive:
Blink 182 – Enema Of The State

Dashboard Confessional – The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most
