The rock universe got turned on its head yesterday when Motley Crue’s frontman Vince Neil announced yesterday via Twitter, that the band were back in the studio recording new music.

This came to the surprise of many fans after Crue closed their 34-year career with their ‘Final Tour’ run through America that ended with an overwhelmingly emotional show on December 31st, 2015 in the Staples Centre, LA. The band pushed the extremes of their final tour by signing a high-profile contract meaning they would be sued if they ever toured again.

However, this doesn’t stop the possibility of the band churning out more hits as Neil confirmed via twitter that “For those of you who don’t understand, yes “the boys” means Motley and we signed a contract not to tour anymore. We never broke up or said we would never make music again. Hope this clears it up.”

The Dirt‘ is based on Crue’s 2001 book ‘The Dirt’ and had originally been set to release in mid-2016. Directed by Jeff Tremaine, a line-up of celebrity faces have already been unveiled with Machine Gun Kelly as Lee, Douglas Booth as Sixx, Daniel Webber as Neil and Iwan Rheon as guitarist Mick Mars.

Bassist Nikki Sixx was the one to confirm that the tracks their currently working on will be featured on their soundtrack to Motley Crue biopic ‘The Dirt.’

Speaking further about the tracks with fans via twitter Sixx responded to a tweet asking how the material would fit in with the film, to which he replied “You can trust us these are ball busters. Everybody can relax. We’re soon gonna smack you upside the head with some killer new tracks. Bob Rock is producing. It’s our movie. We know what were doing.”

Excitement sparked last month when Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee were pictured together working in the studio on a ‘mystery project’ which we now know is their new soundtrack.
